Support Professional - Residential Care

Role Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides one-on-one care and support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in home and community settings. The role involves implementing strategies to help individuals achieve their personal goals outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP), assisting with daily living activities, and promoting independence through guidance and role modeling. Key Responsibilities Supporting individuals' emotional, physical, and personal well-beingDocumenting services delivered, including EVV and daily notesCollaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and maintain ISPsReporting changes in individuals' conditions promptlyAssisting with life skills such as cooking, hygiene, budgeting, and social interactionsEnsuring health and safety standards are metSupporting community involvement based on individual interestsAdhering to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and regulatory requirements Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalentValid driver’s license, auto insurance, and willingness to transport individualsAbility to work flexible hours and handle stressful situations professionallyClear background checks and FBI clearance as requiredExcellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical activities like walking, standing, and climbing stairsAbility to understand and communicate in EnglishAdaptability to various environments and exposure to allergens or other conditions Additional Requirements Commitment to confidentiality and professional standardsWillingness to support individuals in community and home settingsCompliance with health and safety regulations, including vaccinations and testing as required Overall, the role is centered on empowering individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives through compassionate support, skill development, and community engagement.
