Job Summary
The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.
Hours and Wages
Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM until completion of route; may be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs. Expect 10‑15 hours of overtime each week, with voluntary weekend OT as needed. Paid OT at time‑and‑half after 40 hours per week. Starting wage: $24.00‑$28.00 per hour, based on experience. Includes a $10,000 sign‑on bonus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
- Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
- Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
- Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
- Collect payments as needed
- Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
- Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
- Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
- Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
- Travel may be required
- Perform other required duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
- Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
