Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina – Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Central Supply Service. Variable work shift.

Summary

Responsible for delivering requested supplies and/or equipment from Distribution to the various user departments within the facility. All tasks are completed under direct supervision of the Distribution Supervisor or designated Charge Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supplies to walk-in customers and utilize proper documentation to ensure supplies dispensed are issued to respective accounts.
  • Process pick tickets and stage appropriate orders for deliveries to external customers.
  • Deliver special order supplies and equipment to various requestors and obtain signatures to verify deliveries.
  • Break down pallets and put away supplies received into inventory.
  • Verify correct items, manufacturer codes, expiration dates, and quantities received.
  • Safely operate manual or electric pallet jacks to deliver supplies and equipment to requestors.
  • Perform duties associated with the facility’s mailroom.
  • Initiate all communication (oral and written) to purchasing, vendors, or requestors regarding any issues related to inbound supplies.
  • Pick up, return, and sanitize work area before and after assigned shift.
  • Perform scheduled rounds and deliver requested supplies and equipment from Central Supply.
  • Perform all Stat runs as necessary.
  • Assemble specialty kits that are to be restocked on the units.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid NC Real ID driver’s license (or valid United States Passport if not Real ID), verified by CFV Risk Management, including inclusion in the CFV vehicle insurance program.
  • 1 year previous hospital experience preferred.
  • 3 months’ experience consistently performing tasks for Tech I must be met prior to competency sign-off and consideration for training and advancement to Tech II.

Skills

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Ability to interact with employees in Central Supply as well as other departments in the facility.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including effective oral communication and critical thinking.
  • Ability to be flexible to daily changes in operational and patient care issues.
  • Ability to multi-task if necessary.
  • Discretion in the proper handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate these when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see and hear.
  • Capable of withstanding fatigue associated with continuous walking and standing.
  • Capable of delivering supplies and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing carts with rolling weight of up to 100 pounds.
