Duties

  • Helps in-depth research and analysis of major discrepancies related to inventories, denials, letter of investigations, inventory balance, and location discrepancies relevant to receipt, shipment, and storage transactions.
  • Takes corrective actions to balance records and expedite supply items requested by customers to improve DDXX stock control effectiveness.
  • Affords assistance in evaluating and analyzing trends of imbalance items by isolating contributing inconsistencies and verifying with historical data in DLA Distribution.
  • Provides input to specialists for developing solutions to correct imbalances and determines cause and remedial actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Initiates new ideas and recommends approaches to streamline the inventory process.
  • Documents all investigative procedures and follows up with affected areas to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Processes and ensures all transactions are incorporated into the custodial balances of materials in storage for the Distribution Center.

Requirements

  • Conditions of Employment: Must be a U.S. citizen. Tour of Duty: Set Schedule. Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret Access. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
  • Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized. Bargaining Unit Status: No. Selectees are required to have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.
  • Physical Required: Yes. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
  • Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in an office setting however; extensive research could require visits to warehouse, secured areas, or outdoor locations. Work may be performed in hazardous areas where chemicals, poisons, and low radioactive material (such as luminous dials and gauges) are stored; also in refrigerated areas with 42-45 degree temperatures and small freezers where normal temperature is 4 degrees below 0.

Qualifications

  • Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: Assists specialists in performing analysis related to automated systems applications. Researches discrepancies relevant to receipt, shipment, and storage transaction, and conducts subsequent analysis. Conducts reviews of storage and transportation functions to coordinate requirements and recommendations to resolve issues and facilitate procedure change.

Physical Demands

  • The work requires the incumbent to physically walk the depot warehouses to conduct physical searches and to sit comfortably in an office environment when investigating inventory data. Situations may require standing, walking, recurring bending, climbing ladders, stooping, crouching, carrying of items, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Education

  • Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
