About the Role

Under minimal supervision, accurately receive, stage, store, and distribute incoming shipments of supplies and equipment. Maintain, store, pull, and distribute inventoried and department special order supplies for Cath Lab, OR, ASC, and other specialty departments. May be assigned specifically to Receiving, Outside Delivery, Mail Room, or Specialty Depts. Prepare and arrange for outgoing shipments as required. Maintain order and cleanliness of dock, staging area, store room, and department-specific supply areas.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service orientation skills to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers, and community groups.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English language.
  • Knowledge and use of arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
  • Good analytical and reasoning skills to gather and interpret data, make decisions about supply and inventory levels, and problem-solve customer concerns independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wireless handheld technology. Lawson experience preferred.
  • Basic computer keyboarding skills, including word processing and Excel spreadsheet experience.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment including walk-behind hi-lo, pallet jack, dock leveler, and similar tools.
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics to lift 50 lbs. and move linen carts up to 500 lbs. approximately 20-25% of the work time.

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in any one or combination of the following: receiving, distribution, warehousing, shipping, logistics, material handling, inventory control, or comparable service line in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience must include exposure to Cath Lab, OR, ASC supplies, receiving supplies, mailroom, and/or outside delivery assignments.
  • Requires experience with supply chain technology solutions (e.g., wireless handheld devices).
  • 1 year as Supply Tech I at SJMO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately receive incoming supply/equipment shipments by verifying purchase order numbers, quantities, and items against packing slips; note damages, shortages, or potential concealed damage and notify the buyer/requisitioner immediately.
  • Work with specialty department staff to ensure correct supply levels for upcoming scheduled procedures.
  • Perform counts, pick orders, issue/distribute, deliver (and return excess) clean linen, supplies, and equipment.
  • Stage incoming shipments, determine requestor/user destination, and move items to distribution points to ensure same-day delivery to appropriate departments.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments using the most appropriate and cost-effective means/carrier; complete documentation for vendor returns or other outgoing items.
  • Handle refrigerated, overnight, and other rush shipments appropriately and expeditiously.
  • Enter daily supply/equipment receipts into Lawson and continuously monitor supply levels to notify supervisors of shortages.
  • Organize and file completed receiving documents.
  • Resolve discrepancies regarding supply/equipment receipts and shipments with procurement, Contract Management Team, and/or requestor/end user staff.
  • Deliver/pick up supplies, equipment, and linens to/from offsite components of SJMO as necessary.
  • Use handheld devices to order/deliver necessary supplies for ASC, OR, Cath Lab, and other departments.
  • Receive and sort interoffice mail and incoming US mail daily; process outbound mail and UPS, assisting hospital personnel with required forms.
  • Track monthly billing of mail services and charge related costs back to appropriate departments using MS Excel.
  • Monitor and resolve damaged, expired, and excess inventory for assigned specialty departments in accordance with established policies.
  • Replenish storeroom overstock items for ASC, OR, Cath Lab, and other specialty departments.
  • Complete inventory replenishment processes using manual or automated technology and follow established reorder levels.
  • Perform data transfers of inventory information using handheld devices.
  • Stay abreast of technological changes in supply chain systems.
  • Participate in physical inventories and/or cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including any function of Supply Tech I.
