About the Role
The British International School Houston is seeking an outstanding Supply/Cover Teacher to inspire, challenge, and support students within our modern, purpose-built campus. You will lead student learning as part of a nurturing and vibrant curriculum, collaborate with colleagues on developing an international Primary curriculum, and foster a love of learning across diverse student needs.
Responsibilities

- Use informal and formal assessment to refine teaching practices and promote high outcomes.
- Adapt teaching to individual student needs, creating a student-centric environment with independent learners.
- Represent the school’s values in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Actively contribute to the wider school community and advocate for the school externally.
- Teaching and Learning:
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of child development, subject specialism, and pedagogy, including technology integration.
- Experience with the English National Curriculum (ENC), International Primary Curriculum (IPC), Maths Mastery, and a text-centered approach to English (CLPE).
- Engage and challenge students through questioning, discussion, and proven pedagogical strategies.
- Track and evaluate student progress, creating a culture of learning and respect.
- Participate in all aspects of the school’s learning program.
- Planning and Preparation:
- Set clear learning intentions and educational outcomes.
- Design lesson plans, activities, and assessments aligned with the school’s curriculum.
- Teach well-structured, engaging, and inspiring lessons that stretch students and encourage ambition.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Teaching Qualification: PGCE/QTS or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a Primary curriculum.
- Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills for diverse environments.
- Excellent analytical skills with a passion for demonstrating success.
- Strong time management and flexibility in handling multi-functional tasks.
Selection Process
All post holders in regulated activity (with regular unsupervised contact with children) are subject to national and international vetting procedures, including satisfactory criminal record checks from your country of residence/birth and any country of residence within the last 10 years.
