About the Role

The British International School Houston is seeking an outstanding Supply/Cover Teacher to inspire and support student learning within our vibrant curriculum. This role involves leading classroom instruction, collaborating with colleagues to develop a modern international Primary curriculum, and fostering a love of learning among our diverse student body.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the wider school community and advocate for the school externally.
• Teaching and Learning:
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of child development, subject specialism, and pedagogy, including technology integration.
  • Experience with the English National Curriculum (ENC), International Primary Curriculum (IPC), Maths Mastery, and a text-centered approach to English (CLPE).
  • Engage students through questioning, discussion, and proven pedagogical strategies.
  • Evaluate and track student progress, creating a culture of respect and collaboration.
  • Participate in all aspects of the school’s learning program as outlined in school policies.
• Planning and Preparation:
  • Set clear learning intentions and educational outcomes.
  • Design lesson plans, activities, and assessments aligned with the school’s curriculum.
  • Teach well-structured, engaging, and inspiring lessons that challenge and stretch students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
• Teaching Qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a Primary curriculum.
• Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills for diverse environments.
• Excellent analytical skills with a passion for demonstrating success.
• Strong time management and flexibility for multitasking.
