About the role
The primary function of the Stock Clerk is to perform a variety of kitchen tasks related to the ordering, receiving, and proper storing of all products for Nutrition Services.
Responsibilities
- Performs all functions related to ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies and food to Nutrition Services.
- Ensures all deliveries are accurate and meet quality standards; verifies deliveries match orders and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
- Assists with developing a purchase schedule and maintains par stock.
- Uses inventory control systems and reports on utilization of products and food; performs regular inventory checks.
- Sets up purchase lots for orders and controls/maintains records of all items issued from the Nutrition Services Storeroom.
- Ensures all items on the Pull List are properly thawed and all outdated items are discarded.
- Demonstrates knowledge of contents and proper use of all cleaning solutions used in the cooking area.
- Ensures all foods are kept under refrigeration when not being utilized for menu production; stores all food and dry goods in the correct place using FIFO.
- Consistently displays professionalism in dealings with patients, families, co-workers, and staff.
- Promptly answers customer and staff requests pleasantly and appropriately; greets and offers assistance to patients, family members, physicians, and others.
- Assists in covering shortages within the department and takes initiative to solve problems or recommend improvements.
- Participates in identifying learning needs and attends training/development activities as required.
- Works effectively within and between departments; participates in departmental and interdepartmental projects and activities.
- Maintains a clean, sanitized, and organized work area.
- Assists the production manager with placing food orders and fills requisition requests for unit supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in nutrition services required; experience as a stock clerk in a comparable setting preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Ability to follow basic written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to perform basic calculations.
Pay
This position has a hiring range of USD $18.40 - USD $29.74 per hour.
