Supply Chain Technician II - 3rd shift

About the Role

This full-time Supply Chain Technician II position is on the 3rd shift, scheduled Friday through Tuesday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. A shift differential of an additional $1.75/hour will be offered for hours worked between midnight and 6:00 AM.

Under general supervision, this role serves in a medical-surgical supply replenishment capacity, overseeing and performing supply replenishment functions such as releasing orders, picking orders, placing supplies in appropriate locations, and expediting stock outs. The position troubleshoots issues within hospital-based electronic supply chain management systems and provides liaison services between leadership, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure inventory levels are maintained according to defined policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform supply replenishment functions, including releasing and picking orders, and placing supplies in designated locations.
• Expedite stock outs and troubleshoot issues within electronic supply chain management systems.
• Provide liaison services between leadership, nurses, and healthcare professionals to acquire desired products or services according to schedules and maintain inventory levels.
• Assist with patient charge capture and provide usage history/trend data to the management team and clinicians.
• Provide leadership and functional supervision to assigned staff, including assigning work to meet daily operational needs.
• Assist with the development and delivery of training to new staff.
• Maintain effective communication with customers, team members, and management.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills, prioritize needs, and manage resources effectively.
• Oversee daily medical-surgical supply chain operations of supply technicians.
• Perform routine inspection of item expiration dates to maintain inventory quality and safety.
• Work with automated supply inventory mechanisms, such as electronic supply storage units and bar code readers.
• Assist nurses and other healthcare professionals in anticipating and addressing urgent supply needs.
• Manage medical-surgical inventory to maintain established par levels, overseeing and facilitating inventory ordering, monitoring, and audits.
• Solve problems related to supply shortages/outages and recommend operational and policy revisions to address potential or actual supply chain disruptions.
• Apply knowledge of hospital-based electronic supply chain management systems to resolve supply chain challenges and serve as a functional resource for staff and customers.
• Ensure the accuracy of inventory by overseeing proper accounting for all inventory transactions in the electronic inventory management system.
• Oversee and assure the availability of supplies to healthcare providers to support optimal patient care.
• Oversee and assure accurate cross-referencing of items in electronic supply chain management tools.
• Utilize reporting systems to analyze and resolve discrepancies and provide usage history data to the management team and clinicians.
• Oversee and assure the accuracy of all safety stock and organize supply areas to maximize efficiency.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of work-related experience in supply management, receiving, warehousing, and distribution settings; or any combination of such experience and/or post-high school education totaling two years.
• Possession of a driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Pay

Pay Grade: 8 (Merit Alpha Matrix, University Human Resources - The University of Iowa). A shift differential of an additional $1.75/hour is offered for hours worked between midnight and 6:00 AM.

Schedule

Full-time, 3rd shift: Friday through Tuesday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
