About the Role

Come lead with us at Houston Methodist Hospital. The Supply Chain Technician is responsible for performing physical, inventory-related tasks in Supply Chain Management, including storage, distribution, and replenishment of supplies and equipment used throughout the hospital campus or central distribution center. This role promotes a clinically-integrated Supply Chain by delivering supply and equipment orders, stocking supplies, rotating inventory, checking expiration dates, removing excess inventory, and cleaning clinical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and fill supply and equipment inventory levels according to schedules.
  • Efficiently deliver supplies and equipment to assigned units or departments.
  • Physically receive, pick, stage, and deliver stock requests according to schedule and guidelines.
  • Respond to and execute urgent and routine supply and equipment requests within department guidelines.
  • Review and report supply and equipment inventory levels to prevent stock-outs or over-stock situations.
  • Inspect and audit supply and equipment deliveries based on department standards and procedures.
  • Assist with identifying and removing non-conforming products during rounding and inspections.
  • Maintain, clean, and organize clinical supply and equipment areas.
  • Ensure accurate completion of Supply Chain transactions within tracking systems.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and minimize incidental overtime.
  • Generate and communicate ideas to improve quality or services.
  • Participate in special projects, department initiatives, and continuous development.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education (e.g., GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education).
  • One year of experience preferred in Healthcare, Supply Chain, or Materials Management.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to safely perform assigned tasks through ongoing assessments and evaluations.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential functions, especially in patient or employee safety.
  • Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a customer-focused manner.
  • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Sterile Supply process requirements.
  • Ability to complete work within designated time frames.
  • Skill in accessing departmental and hospital system information to support the department.
