About the role

This is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing end-to-end supply chain operations for Managed Accounts and Segments across North America. You will directly supervise and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, driving activities that align with both customer needs and company objectives. The role oversees daily supply chain operations for our largest, most strategic customers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will proactively create efficiencies and implement processes to optimize product flow from supplier to customer, serving as a critical liaison between GFS Supply Chain and its diverse partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the team supporting customer inventory needs for the supply chain from onboarding throughout the existence of the contract.
  • Hold Supply Chain teams and customers accountable to contractual commitments.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, including customer business reviews and site visits.
  • Develop vision and execute the strategy and systems to support team goals.
  • Facilitate multi-unit supply chain activities and oversee day-to-day business activities such as transitions to outside storage, new customers, vendor transitions, and training.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders regarding capacity planning, long-range planning, sales strategy, marketing intelligence, seasonal planning, and customer management.
  • Provide weekly/monthly reports on key performance indicators through benchmarking.
  • Assist in launching new customers and implementing new distribution points within our network.
  • Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement with an emphasis on collaboration, personal ownership, growth, and development.
  • Manage and develop team members (recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, terminations, performance reviews, professional development).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of experience with food service distribution, managing/interacting with customer-facing accounts, or supply chain management, including two years of progressive leadership experience.
  • In lieu of the specified education and experience, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or relevant work experience, may be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of principles and methods for demand, replenishment, supplier relations, and moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including relative costs and benefits.
  • Ability to lead teams and interact with senior leaders, develop relationships, and manage follow-up with collaborating team members.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Intuitive and applicable understanding of financial, profitability, and cash drivers, external environment, and the “big picture” of the business to enable sound decision-making.
  • Self-directed with the ability to handle distraction, repetition, prioritization, workload fluctuations, and ambiguity.
  • Knowledge of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages).
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and execute efficient work processes.
  • Ability to regularly reprioritize day-to-day tasks and manage high-pressure situations.
  • Highly skilled in meeting customer needs and influencing the organization to prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Proven problem solver with the ability to develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to influence others to make a positive impact on the customer and Gordon Food Service.
  • Subject matter expert on GFS Supply Chain applications, processes, and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions and Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Knowledge of supply chain software and business analytic reporting tools, dossiers, and data studios.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, including copy machines, printers, laptops/PCs, mobile technology, teleconferencing, and remote connectivity.
