Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Commodity Specialist to support strategic sourcing initiatives and manage direct material commodities within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This individual will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate supply risks, and ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities, supplier relationship management expertise, and a deep understanding of strategic sourcing within a cGMP environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned direct material commodity categories, including supplier relationship management, contract management, supplier scorecards, quarterly and supplier business reviews, supplier capability assessments, and supplier performance management.
  • Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with suppliers and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, quality expectations, payment terms, and other commercial agreements to achieve optimal value.
  • Conduct pricing analyses and total cost of ownership evaluations to support sourcing decisions.
  • Gather, analyze, and present data to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve sourcing performance.
  • Monitor sourcing projects and provide updates on timelines, milestones, and realized savings.
  • Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing strategies to support business continuity and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across sites to enhance sourcing effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Manage vendor returns, reconcile pricing discrepancies when necessary, and maintain accurate supplier records.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, finance, and other key stakeholders to ensure supply availability and minimize operational downtime.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of supply chain, procurement, strategic sourcing, or commodity management experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Experience working in a cGMP manufacturing environment and familiarity with quality change management systems.
  • Strong proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience performing supplier evaluations, contract management, supplier performance monitoring, and strategic negotiations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Biomedical, Chemical, or Pharmaceutical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of supply risk mitigation strategies and supplier development programs.
  • Understanding of contract law, compliance requirements, and pharmaceutical industry regulations, including J-SOX.

This is a Contract position based out of Milford, MA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
