Supply Chain Sourcing Strategist Senior

About the role

This role is located in ASU’s Tempe, AZ. The environment is in an office setting in various campus buildings and athletic facilities. The role cannot typically be done remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing plans across multiple categories including technology services, software, equipment and operational spend areas
  • Influence and guide departments across ASU through the procurement process in accordance with Arizona Board of Regents (“ABOR”) guidelines (e.g., request for proposal, request for quote, intent to bid, sole source, etc.)
  • Analyze spend and other data points (e.g., market, higher education, etc.), conduct research and supplier analyses to identify sourcing opportunities and set objectives for initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate department engagement meetings to gather requirements, assess needs, align strategy and business requirements, understand trade-offs and risks
  • Display strong knowledge of spend areas (e.g., benchmarks, best in class solutions, etc.) including technology services, software licensing, equipment sourcing and supplier capabilities
  • Establish and deliver on value and cost savings targets for spend areas
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to peers and team members
  • Evaluate supplier and vendor performance, establish performance expectations and develop improvement strategies for service delivery, quality, cost and contract compliance
  • Develop and present dashboards and reports for spend areas on supplier performance, value initiatives, and contract utilization
  • Develop negotiation strategy for solutions, pricing, licensing, services and contract terms, and lead negotiations in collaboration with departments, legal and finance to minimize risks and optimize value for ASU and departments
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and utilize technology and tools to streamline procurement operations and enhance stakeholder experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain, sourcing and procurement, including sourcing strategy, financial analysis, contract terms and conditions, procurement activities, risk assessment, supplier performance management and metrics
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain systems and technologies
  • Ability to facilitate meetings across levels of both internal and external parties
  • Basic data analytics and financial acumen skills
  • Strong business acumen with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Basic skills in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and established priorities
  • Ability to navigate evolving and scaling environments
  • Strong desire to continuously learn and utilize technology to enhance efficiency

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in public procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and leading complex supply chain initiatives involving technology services, software licensing and equipment procurement
  • Proficiency in supply chain automation, ERP systems, and AI tools
  • Strong background in supplier performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to develop scalable processes and influence cross-functional teams
