Supply Chain Planner - FG Planning & RM Procurement
About the role
The Supply Chain Planner – FG Planning and RM Procurement is responsible for planning the end-to-end supply chain of one or more manufacturing sites. This role involves reviewing MRP output, creating production and purchase orders, inventory management, assisting in labor projections, schedule optimization, on-time performance, master data maintenance, and acting as a liaison to Customer Service and Suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Balance supply with demand on a short-term and long-term basis.
- Monitor inventory levels and days on hand of materials at assigned locations.
- Manage material master MRP settings to align SAP with reality and the intended supply chain strategy.
- Evaluate, incorporate, and generate ideas for new SAP technology to improve operations.
- Provide backup support to other individuals with similar roles and responsibilities.
- Regularly monitor and address Non-Working, Slow-Moving (NWSM) inventory through redeployment, re-labeling, vendor returns, or procurement strategy modifications.
- Work with site management to organize schedule changes due to backlogs, design changes, and material/labor shortages.
- Analyze and maintain data on safety stock levels, MOQs, logistics modes, forecasting requirements, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Communicate process and service issues to Business Management, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning, and Technical Service.
- Oversee finished goods and stock inventories of assigned locations.
- Review MRP output to create production orders and identify inventory or delivery exceptions.
- Check production activity to provide updates to Customer Service based on new production or customer information.
- Maintain MRP forecasted demand for stocked products using SAP forecasting models and effective communication with Sellers and CSRs.
- Address Customer Service questions and concerns regarding material availability.
- Execute purchasing activities, including creating purchase orders, communicating with vendors, confirming orders, providing forecasts, and managing vendor relationships.
- Interact with site-level supply chain planners and schedulers to build consensus on supply strategy and resolve issues.
- Build truckload deliveries to stocking points based on material demand.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (up to 60% of the workday).
- Must be able to travel to and from required meetings.
- Must be able to input data into a computer.
- Work is typically in an office environment with low to moderate noise levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering required.
- 3+ years of experience in transactional supply chain (planning, procurement, etc.).
- APICS certification preferred.
