Supply Chain Manager II, AMXL First Mile S&OP
About the role
Amazon's supply chain team is looking for an experienced leader with a strong record of achieving results to create and execute the worldwide supply chain by working closely with retail and operations partners across the globe to effectively manage volume flows and fullness for fulfillment centers and delivery stations. AMXL was launched in September 2018 to support Amazon's expansion into the >$600B Heavy/Bulky product market share segment. The NA AMXL Supply Chain Execution team plays the leading role in the growth and profitability of our network, calibrating capacity to expected demand, overseeing end-to-end supply chain health, and making structural changes to the network to meet cost, growth, and quality goals. The NA network is currently supporting over $9B in gross merchandise sales, with expectations of double-digit growth over the next three years.
Key job responsibilities
The S&OP team is responsible for aligning and optimizing the FC network plan for labor and capacity constraints, ideal placement and buy volumes, plan accuracy, and improving tools to automate the planning process. Each week, the team provides an updated short to medium term aggregate fulfillment plan (up to 17 weeks) for the AMXL fulfillment network, reflecting the projected fulfillment needs of Retail/FBA teams and partners, including all inbound and outbound flows across the network.
- Managing multiple initiatives and projects
- Writing strategy documents that clearly communicate supply chain vision to senior leadership
- Working with Retail, Finance and Operations partners towards defining supply chain and operating models
- Forming cross-functional project teams, planning, organizing, managing, and executing complex projects across multiple organizations and stakeholders
- Deep diving complex models and analyzing trade off decisions to ensure the best outcome for our customers
- Formulating and owning volume projections and presenting to senior leadership
A day in the life
The main task for the S&OP team is to gather Retail/FBA and partner inbound and outbound inventory flow forecasts on a weekly basis and turn the forecast into an operational plan. Once a plan is published each Wednesday, the S&OP team tracks execution against the plan and provides metrics to retail, ops leadership and the FCs as to performance against the plan. When large variations to the plan are detected, the team surfaces this to the relevant teams and makes adjustments when variability becomes too high for the FCs to operationalize.
