About the role

The Supply Chain (SC) Manager - Case Pulling Operating Room is responsible for coordinating and managing the flow of surgical supplies, instruments, and case carts to ensure timely, accurate, and complete OR case carts. This position partners closely with Sterile Processing Departments (SPD), OR managers, Assistant Nurse Managers (ANMs), and Supply Chain Leadership to optimize inventory, improve workflow, maintain preference cards, and support high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely delivery of complete OR case carts.
  • Cooky pulling and prioritize urgent and add-on cases.
  • Monitor case cart accuracy and implement process improvements to reduce returns and delays.
  • Collaborate with ANMs to review and validate surgical preference cards.
  • Ensure returned supplies are properly restocked and rotated.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Supply Chain in designated areas, which may include Business Office functions, Centralized Inventory Support, Centralized Shipping/Receiving, Courier functions, Linen replenishment, Records retention, and Bed Management/logistics.
  • Direct assigned staff in the attainment of performance standards; responsible for hiring, training, coaching, providing corrective actions, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of all Supply Chain Associate (Levels 1, 2, and Team Lead) job functions to effectively mentor and precept staff.
  • Match associate schedules to customer needs utilizing performance metrics, and apportion workload equitably across the team.
  • Produce high levels of employee satisfaction and reduce turnover through cross-training, inter-departmental promotions, ongoing career planning, and consistent communication.
  • Conduct facility inspections to assure an uninterrupted flow of supplies and ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Serve on intra- and interdepartmental committees, acting as a resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization, and reduce costs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and internal policies to ensure safe, ethical, and professional behavior.

Requirements

  • Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, and/or another related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or health care leadership/management. 2 of the 5 years must be in supply chain/logistics.
  • Experience with supply chain technology solutions (e.g., bar code scanners, automated supply cabinets, expandable wireless products).
  • Previous experience in JIT (Just in Time) and LUM (Logical Unit of Measure) distribution processes required.
  • Previous experience in LEAN Six Sigma methodologies preferred.

  • Organization & Multitasking: Exceptional prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and work independently or within a team environment.
  • Financial & Data Acumen: Goal-oriented with an emphasis on creating efficiencies and reducing costs. Understanding of departmental budgets and financial reports. Ability to manipulate large data sets and interpret implications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with ERP (preferably SAP) or other supply chain information systems. Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (Access/relational database experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of progressive supply chain strategies (AHRMM or APICS certification preferred).
