The What To Expect Supply Chain Manager (SCM) role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in demand planning, engineering, and development collaboration. This role involves developing the supply chain for chemicals like electrolyte and electrolyte sub-components for Tesla battery cells. Key responsibilities include:
- Negotiate commercial agreements with supply chain partners such as GTC, PPA, license agreements, MTA, etc.
- Manage supplier relationships to optimize cost and scale battery material capacity
- Conduct global market analysis to identify new chemical manufacturing partnership opportunities
- Lead large-scale supplier investment projects from idea to implementation
- Own RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented
- Develop and utilize cost models to define should costs and negotiate price for sourcing and cost reduction
- Analyze current market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges and opportunities
- Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations and Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality
Requirements
- Minimum of a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent experience
- At least 5+ years of work experience in Engineering, Engineering Sales, Manufacturing Planning, or Supply Chain Management roles
- Ability to make decisions based on limited information, analytical with ability to build out Should-Cost models and cost forecasts
- Dedication to Tesla's mission of accelerating the transition to renewable energy
- Strong team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional teams
- Excellent writing ability and the ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner
- Prior experience with batteries and battery materials preferred

Compensation details: The expected annual salary range for this position is $84,000 to $324,000, with additional cash and stock awards and benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
