Supply Chain Intern - Virginia Tech Athletics

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Supply Chain Intern to support our food and beverage operations during the football season. This internship offers hands-on experience in inventory management, vendor coordination, and logistics planning within a fast-paced event environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring product availability and operational efficiency during game days and large-scale events.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inventory tracking, ordering, and restocking of food and beverage items across multiple stadium locations.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to ensure timely delivery and accurate counts of game day supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels before, during, and after football games to prevent shortages or overages.
• Help manage receiving processes, product rotation, and shelf-life checks in storage and concession areas.
• Support logistical planning and setup for food and beverage operations during football games.
• Conduct post-event inventory audits and provide data analysis to improve forecasting and purchasing decisions.
• Assist with documentation and reporting, including usage logs, waste reports, and delivery discrepancies.
• Participate in process improvement projects related to supply chain and game day operations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
• Strong interest in sports operations, food & beverage logistics, and/or stadium event management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work game day hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $16.00.
