About the role
Ruan is now hiring a Managed Transportation Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a full‑time position that will work a mix of on‑site at the downtown Des Moines campus and remote. The purpose of the internship is to develop college students pursuing a career in supply chain, transportation, accounting, human resources, IT, or an applicable division. Interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities within the transportation business, have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college, and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and part‑time/hourly. The Managed Transportation Specialist Intern will work with dedicated managed transportation customer account(s), learning routing optimization, carrier tracking, and contributing to continuous improvement projects that directly impact Ruan and its customers. The role works closely with internal and external customers, requiring strong verbal and written communication skills. Interns must carry out the company's organizational values and operate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentation material – 25%
- Provide day‑to‑day business activities focused on meeting internal and external customer needs – 25%
- Fully support financial business case analysis – 25%
- Participate in major cost and process improvement initiatives and projects and provide technical support in managing the business unit's financial performance – 20%
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required – 5%
