About the role
The Supply Chain Intern supports the Procurement team in executing departmental and organizational objectives by assisting with a variety of procurement and supply chain activities. This role provides hands-on experience in sourcing and purchasing tools, parts, materials, supplies, and services required to support manufacturing operations and other business functions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and see through the entire life cycle from Procure to Pay.
- Follow up on Past Due Orders with Suppliers.
- Develop and maintain good rapport with Suppliers.
- Prepares purchase orders, solicits quote proposals, and reviews requisitions for goods and services.
- Maintains and reviews computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories for supplier evaluations.
- Confers with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Follow up with past due purchase orders and update ERP System to reflect updates.
- Develops business relationships with customers and suppliers internal and external to the business.
- Absorb responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Supply Chain Manager or Company management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be enrolled in University or Community College degree program, preferably Business or Operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work through and resolve problems and/or conflicts recommending solutions and following through to completion.
- Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
- Successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including background check and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
Qualifications
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, JIT, Six Sigma a plus.
- Experience in maintaining data in information systems or databases is a plus.
- Experience in processing Purchase Orders/Purchase Requisitions in an ERP system is a plus.
- Roficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
