Supply Chain Associate - Carver College of Medicine BioMedical Research Store

About the role

The Carver College of Medicine (CCOM) is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Supply Chain Associate to support The University of Iowa's research enterprise through the operation of the Biomedical Research Store. This position is responsible for the distribution and maintenance of inventory of molecular biology and tissue culture products to meet the research demands of CCOM investigators.

Responsibilities

• Procure and deliver goods and services, including evaluating, procuring, receiving, storing, and delivering goods and services
• Administer and maintain inventory databases and monthly billing systems while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, Board of Regents and University policies and procedures, and the highest standards of ethical conduct
• Dispense enzymes and molecular biology products in the Biomedical Research Store
• Obtain and verify information regarding sourcing and acquisition options, review contracts for accurate pricing, and apply terms and conditions
• Receive, properly store and distribute product, address inventory issues, and suggest models for improvement
• Maintain and secure inventory, report issues as needed, and implement marketing strategy or plan
• Interact with vendors/suppliers and internal and external customers, answer questions about orders and shipments, and reconcile discrepancies
• Maintain inventory/equipment database(s) and operate computer program to track inventory and monthly billing charges
• Monitor the budget, assist with managing the budget, and prepare monthly billing statements
• May provide functional and/or administrative supervision of staff

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with the public
• Proficient in computer software applications, including prior experience working with databases
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, maintain attention to detail, and work independently in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in store operations that include record keeping for inventory management
• Administrative experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft
• Laboratory experience
• Knowledge of molecular biology technology
