About the role

The Supply & Trading Manager is responsible for securing competitive, long-term cheese whey supply while maximizing the value of cheese and cream co-products. This role leads supply planning, trading, and logistics activities to ensure end-to-end supply chain alignment, optimal factory utilization, and sustainable value creation across the dairy network.

At FrieslandCampina Ingredients, the Supply & Trading team plays a critical role in connecting dairy partners, manufacturing operations, and markets. Working at the intersection of sourcing, trading, and supply chain planning, the team ensures continuity of supply, maximizes product value, and supports sustainable growth. As Supply & Trading Manager, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners while contributing to a global organization with a strong cooperative heritage and a future-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor global whey market trends and translate insights into sourcing, trading, and risk management strategies.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships within the dairy network.
  • Lead commercial contract negotiations and actively manage exposure to market volatility.
  • Maximize value through portfolio management, pricing discipline, and market optimization.
  • Drive robust production planning processes to optimize manufacturing capacity.
  • Manage transportation activities to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant logistics.
  • Ensure strong cross-functional alignment with Operations, Sales, and S&OP teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Supply & Trading team to deliver high-quality execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement, sales, or supply chain management; experience in whey or dairy ingredients strongly preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management expertise.
  • Deep understanding of dairy supply chains and market dynamics.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Independent, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage market risk.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
