Supplier Quality Engineer - Exterior and Closures

About the role

My client is an innovative American automotive manufacturer focused on redefining affordable electric mobility. They are developing a new generation of purpose-built electric vehicles with an emphasis on simplicity, modular design, and customer customisation. They are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer - Exterior and Closures to join their expanding team on a Contract basis. The role will be in Troy MI, USA. Sector: Body, Structures & Chassis. Contechs is a strategic partner to the automotive industry, providing innovative design and engineering services to global OEMs, from concept to production.

Requirements

• Engineering Degree or equiv. or previous working level experience
• 5+ years of Supplier Quality including site audits, continuous improvement, APQP, lean problem-solving principles and leading a team by example
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Experience with varied components (Stampings, plastics, seals, lighting, glass, latches, etc)
• Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency and product quality
• Strong working knowledge of value driven supplier KPI and scorecard development and implementation
• Work directly with engineering and manufacturing regarding technical GD&T, and drawing standards training and review
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
• High level of integrity
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
• Proof of immediate, on-going and valid eligibility to work full time in the United States

Responsibilities

• Supporting all aspects of Supplier Quality and performance
• Understanding and working closely with internal and external customers' expectations, sourcing, quality, supplier development, delivering tooling, and parts on budget and on time per program milestones
• Performing and administering the APQP process
• Holding supplier(s) accountable to the Quality Requirements Manual
• Developing and implementing supplier partner KPI/scorecard
• Implementing actions to improve supplier performance
• Evaluating suppliers for production awards
• Assessing all aspects of supplier quality performance
• Developing strong supplier relationships
• Working with all internal stakeholders to support the company's overall objectives and core values
