About the Role

Production Support Department Engineer supports problem investigation, analysis, and reporting for quality issues through blueprint reading, part measurement, and Catia/3D. Leads support management (supplier contact, confirmation of operation standards, etc.) for all non-conforming production parts, triggering point compliance, and collaborative problem summaries. Minimizes or eliminates impact to Global Direct Pass/Downtime and supports coordination of large repair projects. Develops technical skills through frequent interactions and mentorship while supporting cost-reduction activities and new model initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure supplier parts meet drawing and specifications to assure part compliance.
  • Evaluate and understand part Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Process Quality Control Table (PQCT), Operations Standards, and Manufacturing Quality Standard (MQS).
  • Approve part/process changes for design and non-design changes (collaboration between Supplier Assurance and Production Support Departments).
  • Authorize removal of parts from completed body units for investigation.
  • Support in-depth analysis of the production process to minimize customer concerns.
  • Manage complete problem-solving analysis, supplier root cause analysis, countermeasure development, and implementation for all Manpower quality issues.
  • Support North American Reporting System report correlation to ensure accuracy in reporting and cost.
  • Review previous shifts' reports and set direction for finalizing gaps in containment or technical analysis.
  • Perform data analysis, prioritize top impact issues, and support supplier characteristic improvement activities.
  • Work with sorting contractors and suppliers to provide direction on quality issues.
  • Provide direction to sort teams to ensure projects meet target milestones.
  • Support development and confirmation of sort operation standards.
  • Daily confirmation of sort effectiveness for current quality concerns to minimize production impact.
  • Manage and support communication with suppliers and other departments regarding countermeasures.
  • Build technical, Honda Way, and department knowledge.
  • Generate interest in new ideas within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 0-6 years’ experience depending on education.
  • Proficiency in Measurement Systems, Catia/3D, or CAD.
  • Quality Assurance experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to present to varying audiences.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Working Conditions

  • On-site in plant, open office environment, walking sorting, limited travel.
  • Average overtime: 3-5 hours per week.
