About the Role
The Supplier Development Manager implements Recovery, Development, and Assessment assignments at supplier sites within the Procurement Operations department. This role requires extensive travel (70-80%) throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico and involves using Airbus and industry-standardized tools and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Enhance supplier relationships by supporting continuous improvement plans and roadmaps.
- Deliver robustness throughout the Airbus supply chain, including sub-tiers.
- Restore and secure supplier quality and on-time delivery to required levels.
- Improve supplier performance through advanced actions and eliminate waste to enhance Supply Chain efficiency.
- Anticipate recurring supplier quality issues and initiate preventive measures.
- Perform onsite inspections of supplier products.
- Act as the Eyes, Ears, and Voice of Airbus at supplier facilities.
- Report weekly to internal customers and stakeholders, including supplier status and escalation points.
- Support the improvement of internal Airbus processes.
- Lead special projects (cross-functional or cross-divisional) and internal trainings.
- Mentor colleagues and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, and/or Program Management.
- Demonstrable experience utilizing quality management tools/techniques.
Preferred Certifications: Operations management (MRP, APICS/CPIM certification).

Physical Requirements
- Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: Ability to hear conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and production floor sounds including alarms.
- Speaking: Ability to participate in conversations, meetings, and communications.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and some production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
- Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
- Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push/pull small office furniture and tools.
- Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit for long periods and stand for discussions in offices or production floors.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
- Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice via car and airplane; requires sitting, standing, walking, and carrying luggage for extended periods.
