Supplier Development Engineer

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you'll be embedded with our supply base — coaching, improving, and transforming supplier operations to meet nVent's growing demands for delivery, cost, quality, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve supplier readiness to support new nVent products and programs.
- Analyze and expand supplier capacity to meet demand for new nVent products and programs.
- Lead supplier capability development initiatives — assess current state, build improvement roadmaps, and drive execution of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and operational excellence programs at supplier sites.
- Deploy continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) within the supply base to reduce cost, improve quality, shorten lead times, and increase capacity.
- Partner with sourcing category leaders on strategic supplier assessments, transitions, and new supplier qualifications to support global sourcing initiatives.
- Monitor and improve supplier performance through data-driven analysis, scorecards, and business reviews — identifying high-impact opportunities across the supply base.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop recovery and resilience plans with critical suppliers to ensure supply chain continuity.
- Coach and mentor supplier teams to build sustainable, long-term manufacturing and quality capabilities.
- Support supply management processes, including alignment with nVent's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field required.
- Ideal 3+ years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, or a related supply chain role.
- Demonstrated experience deploying Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies in a manufacturing or supplier environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience with metal fabrication suppliers is a plus.
- Proven ability to influence and drive change across organizational boundaries — particularly with external suppliers.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30-40%.

Pay
Pay Transparency nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range $76,000.00 - $141,100.00 Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
