Supplier Development Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end coordination of supplier readiness and risk management activities supporting prototype builds, pre-production milestones, and product launch initiatives.
  • Manage supplier-related crises, ensuring issues are identified, escalated, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a consolidated readiness view across suppliers, components, and project milestones, highlighting critical risks, dependencies, and decision points.
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery risks while driving root cause analysis, containment actions, and recovery plans.
  • Prioritize active supplier issues and readiness gaps, ensuring focus remains on the highest-impact risks to build schedules and launch objectives.
  • Support cross-functional teams by driving accountability, tracking actions, and ensuring closure of critical activities.
  • Prepare escalation materials and facilitate decision-making with project teams, suppliers, purchasing teams, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain governance processes, including reporting structures, escalation paths, meeting cadence, action tracking, and communication routines.
  • Lead risk review meetings, crisis management forums, and leadership updates, ensuring transparency on status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Support operating model stabilization and documentation of processes, lessons learned, and transition plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in Purchasing, Supplier Management, Supply Chain, Program Management, or Project Management.
  • Strong background in supplier readiness, escalation management, risk mitigation, or crisis management.
  • Experience supporting product launches, prototype builds, manufacturing programs, or operational readiness initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance management, ordering processes, dependency management, and supply chain risk.
  • Proven ability to lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and recovery planning efforts.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or production-driven environments.
  • Strong project execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across operational teams, suppliers, and senior leadership.
  • Experience working within cross-functional and global organizations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Able to remain organized and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI), product launches, or manufacturing ramp-ups.
  • Background in supplier quality, procurement, logistics, or operations.
  • Experience facilitating governance forums, executive reviews, and escalation processes.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with experience creating executive-level summaries and action plans.
