About the role
Responsible for performing and overseeing basic and advanced respiratory procedures for patients with respiratory disorders, including in critical care settings. Acts as a resource to less experienced staff, leads patient education, and actively participates in departmental operations.
Responsibilities
- Administers therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gases, neonatal and trauma care, and ventilator transports.
- Evaluates patient conditions, interprets diagnostic data, and provides expert recommendations to physicians.
- Educates patients and collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure safe, efficient, and personalized care.
- Documents accurately and maintains current knowledge through continuing education.
- Supports departmental goals, promotes safety, and mentors less experienced staff.
Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) and valid license required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of critical care experience preferred, with pediatric experience advantageous.
Skills
- Strong communication skills and physical ability to perform procedures and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of respiratory care procedures, patient assessment, and diagnostic tools.
- Commitment to quality care, safety, and professional growth.
