Supplemental Respiratory Therapist - Night

About the role

This position involves recommending and administering advanced respiratory therapies and diagnostics for patients with respiratory disorders, including arterial blood gases, neonatal procedures, trauma care, and ventilator transports. The role acts as a resource for respiratory care staff, leads patient education initiatives, and participates in departmental operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory procedures following physician orders and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Assess patients and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood gases and pulmonary function tests.
• Provide expert advice to healthcare teams and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and promote quality patient care, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Support ongoing education for staff and patients, stay current with industry best practices, and serve as a mentor.

Qualifications

Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (preferred), with current licensure and Basic Life Support certification.

Skills

• Two or more years of critical care experience, with pediatric experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills, physical ability to perform procedures, and proficiency in monitoring equipment.
• Knowledge of respiratory care protocols, ability to interpret diagnostic data, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
