SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST

About the role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Training/Accident Prevention/Resource MGMT (TAR) Division (Code 230), Lifting and Handling (L&H) Department (Code 200), TRIDENT Refit Facility Kings Bay (TRIREFFAC-KB), Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Establish schedules and priorities for work accomplishments based on workloads, available manpower, criticality of projects, and required completion dates.
• Manage emergency inspections, testing, and certifications of weight handling equipment (WHE) and material handling equipment (MHE) as required due to mechanical failures, accidents, or other circumstances.
• Work closely with the crane engineering staff and the Navy crane center (NCC) in resolving unusual or controversial problems pertaining to the operation or maintenance of WHE.
• Assure that all WHE maintenance, inspections, load testing, and certification procedures are carried out in strict accordance with naval facilities engineering systems command (NAVAC) and other directives.
• Perform technical reviews of modifications and alterations submitted by staff engineers which affect stability, safety, performance, lifting capacity or safe operating characteristics of WHE.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics.

Qualifications

• Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience executing and monitoring procedures for inspections, tests, and certifications of weight handling equipment (WHE) and material handling equipment (MHE) to include nuclear requirements and explosive handling requirements.
  • Experience monitoring entails determining the type of repair parts and tools that are necessary in equipment inspections and testing.
  • Experience identifying and recommending changes to contract specifications that reflect increases or decreases in the scope of contracts and workloads.
  • Experience providing technical interpretations of work requirements listed in the contract specifications to ensure understanding by the contractor for any maintenance performed on WHE and MHE.
  • Experience assisting in scheduling periodic maintenance inspections, testing, and certifications of all WHE and MHE and associated crane rails and tracks associated with WHE assigned to the command.
