About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production personnel by adjusting work schedules, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, resolving complaints, and providing technical guidance and training to lower-graded staff.
  • Plan and schedule plant workload against customer due dates. Balance press, wide-format, bindery, finishing, and mounting capacity, and adjust priorities to meet mission-critical and expedited requirements.
  • Determine production methods and materials per job, including paper stocks, wide-format substrates like vinyl and rigid board, and the appropriate mounting, laminating, and encapsulating methods for the finished product.
  • Direct mounting and finishing operations, including various mounting methods to foam and gator board; laminating and encapsulation; and finishing services like trimming, cutting, binding, and packaging.
  • Perform and enforce quality control across the plant, including proofing and color management, registration and image quality, trim and finish tolerances, and final inspection before release to the customer.
  • Maintain plant equipment readiness by monitoring production gear, scheduling preventive maintenance, managing consumables and materials, and processing equipment turn-in through DLA Disposition Services.
  • Monitor financial performance of assigned production work. Track revenue and cost against plan, review job costing against production standards, and resolve order-level billing and funding discrepancies with customers and supporting offices.
  • Administer facility, safety, environmental, and security requirements with the host installation, covering material handling, storage, chemical and waste handling, equipment safety, and physical security.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customer print and finishing needs, consulting on materials, preparing estimates, tracking jobs through the order system, and resolving complaints and quality disputes.
  • Support development of requirements documents for contracted production support, and coordinate work sent to other plants or to commercial sources when in-house capacity or capability will not meet the requirement.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
