About the Position
As the Chief, Police/Provost Marshal Division, receives general administrative supervision from the Director, Emergency Services (DES) or Deputy (DDES) who defines scope of responsibility, objectives, priorities, and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Develop law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the operations of the division.
- Review and evaluate staff actions for adherence to organizational policy.
- Plan for current and long-range operations based on workload trends and projected requirements.
- Establish training programs within the department to ensure initial training, sustainment training and training on new policy and law is conducted.
- Advise top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them and develop acceptable solutions to problems.
- Identify problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies and to meet short and long range objectives.
- Direct the law enforcement staff directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors performing the various police functions.
- Maintain good grievance procedures and personally resolve significant employee and group complaints seeking assistance as necessary.
- Perform liaison with other military and civilian law enforcement agencies within the area to discuss problems, inter-agency support, future plans and needs, and exchange of information.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid (Secret) security investigation.
- Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Meet the requirements of AR 190-56:
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.

Qualifications
- Who May Apply: US Citizens
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Direct law enforcement unit through subordinate supervisors; 2) Ensure all subordinates meet developmental and training needs; 3) Coordinate emergency responses between emergency services units; 4) Perform duties to maintain accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding police operations and administration; 5) Prepare correspondence, plans and reports to maintain police operations.
