About the role

The purpose of this position is two-fold: to serve as the Clinical Director and Chief of Staff of the Clinical Services Branch and to provide the diagnosis, clinical oversight, mentorship, and leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, organizes and maintains medical services and committee activities as required by the Service Unit by-laws, Rules and Regulations and for accreditation/certification.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by staff and prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns work based on priorities and capabilities of employees and evaluates work performance.
  • Provides or assures the provision of primary medical care in all medical categories to ambulatory patients. Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history, and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations.
  • Provides medical care and public health services to individuals eligible for services provided by the IHS in homes, schools, clinics, job sites, and other community locations within the Service Unit.

Requirements

  • A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
  • Minimum qualifications: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
  • For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
