Supervisory Nurse (Assistant Director of Nursing)
About the role
This position is located within the Billings Area Indian Health Service, Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Lame Deer, MT. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive administrative management assistance to the Director of Nursing and provide daily clinical oversight of the Nursing program. The position reports to the Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Serve as principle advisor to the Director of Nursing.
- Develop and monitors performance improvement activities related to the Nursing branch.
- Conducts employment interviews and provides new employee orientation.
- Oversee staffing schedule for the Nursing Branch.
- Oversees department supplies, request, approvals, and orders.
- Guides projects and plans short and long term developments related to program needs.
- Actively works with Service Unit administration to accomplish Service Unit goals.
Requirements
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
- Nurse Series 0610
- A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
- Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
- Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience with implementation and oversight of quality nursing care, and the ability to perform the full spectrum of supervisory personnel management. Enforces all appropriate standards including but not limited to those of the Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) conditions of participation. Collaborates with Chief Nurse Executive in the nursing documentation analysis, evaluation and program planning including development of staff education and skills competence activities.
Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $107,048 - $139,166 per year. The position is full-time and telework eligible. Appointment type is permanent. The position is in the Competitive Service and is represented by a union. There is no drug test or security clearance required. The position is high risk and requires a background check and possibly a security clearance.
