Duties
Provides a variety of direct legal support assistance services to serviced Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) staff.
Examines, prepares and processes a variety of technical legal documents which are characteristically voluminous and complex in format.
Supervises the Legal Assistants in the unit.
Distributes work, monitors status of work in progress and ensures uniform high quality of work product.

- Increases responsibilities and assignments as training and experience progress.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication.
- Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- Must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
- GS-10: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level, including demonstrating the ability to provide leadership and guidance to subordinate staff; providing training, and distributing and monitoring work in progress. Additionally, experience includes legal work performed in any legal setting or office where the candidate has independently drafted and processed legal documents; performed legal research to verify citations using online legal resources; prepared complex legal documents and materials containing tables and graphs; and the ability to independently assemble exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents from file material.
- To be eligible at the GS-10 level, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
