Supervisor, Work Management (Gas Distribution System)
Job Summary/Purpose
The Work Management Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of all work activities within the natural gas distribution system. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The supervisor will lead a team of planners, schedulers, and field support staff to optimize resource utilization and support operational excellence.
Accountabilities and Essential Functions
- Supervise daily work management processes including job planning, scheduling, dispatching, and closeout.
- Cook with engineering, operations, and compliance teams to ensure timely execution of capital and maintenance projects.
- Maintain work order progress and adjust schedules to meet operational priorities and emergency response needs.
- Keep informed and comply with DOT, OSHA, PHMSA and other applicable regulations and internal standards.
- Communicate with compliance and regulatory groups to verify obligations are met.
- Manage departmental budgets, including overtime and resource allocations.
- Develop and Analyze performance metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, backlog, crew utilization) and implement process improvements.
- Lead and develop a team of 8+ work planners and support staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Support storm and emergency response efforts as needed, including after-hours availability.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum education required of the position: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, having 4+ years of experience in utility operations, work management, or field services is required.
- Minimum experience required of the position: 5+ years of experience in utility operations, work management, or field services.
- Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position: Proficiency in work management systems (e.g., Oracle CCS, WACS and OFS) (Maximo, Click, SAP CCS and Service suit) Microsoft Office Suite, and GIS tools. Strong understanding of natural gas utility operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive continuous improvement. Experience with unionized workforce environments. Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles.
Physical Requirements
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
