Supervisor, Ultrasound (Full-Time)

About the role

As the Ultrasound Supervisor, you serve as the liaison between the facility and referring sources—such as physicians' offices, organizations, and managed care representatives—for all scheduling, pre-authorization, and communication needs. You act as the communication link to resolve issues and perceived problems that may affect referring physicians and customers. You provide input to management and assist with developing long- and short-term marketing goals and objectives, accurately report volume statistics and office visit information, and serve as the department safety liaison to the PI and safety committees, supporting network initiatives related to imaging services.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and performs all ultrasound procedures to the highest diagnostic quality and accuracy.
• Oversees staff training to maintain the highest quality diagnostic images.
• Ensures proper operating performance of all equipment and is knowledgeable about ultrasound equipment, their functions, and operation of each control.
• Responsible for all regulatory compliance, including but not limited to ACR, Joint Commission, NJDEP, and DOH.
• Communicates with nursing services and physicians to obtain pertinent clinical information for ultrasound patients.
• Ensures the availability of necessary supplies to maintain efficient department functionality.
• Performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocol.
• Performs daily clerical duties, including the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer systems, patient scheduling, and other hospital systems.
• Performs portable ultrasound exams when necessary.
• Performs all tasks required of an Ultrasound Technologist, demonstrating the knowledge and skill to provide patient care.
• Prepares payroll, on-call coverage sheets, and overtime approval forms.
• Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in emergency situations.
• Evaluates and recommends equipment, including capital equipment.
• Schedules monthly departmental meetings and in-services utilizing staff and outside companies.
• Flexibility in work schedule (including weekends and holidays) as needed to provide continual quality patient care and meet department needs.
• Assists in preparation of the budget.
• Greets all patients upon arrival for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
• Adheres to policies on Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs (e.g., age, educational, literacy). This includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level.
• Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
• Responsible for modality-specific daily and monthly QA.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Requirements

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in the field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Clinical leadership experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
• Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Vascular Technologist Certification (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification (RDMS) or Sonography Certification (ARRT, S) or Registered Vascular Specialist Certification (CCI, RVS).
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Pay

Minimum starting rate of $113,609.60 annually. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Some positions may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, commissions, or shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work.
