Supervisor, Transportation (Tu -Sat)

About the Role

This supervisor position is responsible for setting and achieving department goals, ensuring customer satisfaction through on-time deliveries and correct invoices, and managing the transportation department, including employee evaluations, accident reporting, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with merchandising and sales for deliveries and backhauls.
• Organize with warehouse and production on orders.
• Schedule drivers and routing.
• Train staff on safety, accident reporting, and customer service.
• Oversee paperwork, including logs and pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
• Monitor drive cam and coach drivers.
• Manage truck maintenance.

Requirements

• Minimum High School diploma; some college preferred.
• 2-3 years’ experience in driving.
• Supervisory experience a plus.
• Good communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Commercial Vehicle Drivers must have the ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent people skills.

Decision-Making Authority

• Decisions made fully independently: Routing, employee evaluations, disciplinary actions.
• Decisions requiring review/approval: Purchasing or leasing new equipment, staff additions.

Reports to: Warehouse/Transportation Manager
