About the role
Cobalt Civil, LLC is seeking a dependable, experienced, and safety-focused Transmission Line Drill Crew Supervisor to lead and work alongside foundation drilling crews on transmission line and heavy civil construction projects. This position combines hands-on drilling support, equipment operation, and field leadership responsibilities while overseeing daily crew operations, safety, production, and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside a crew of 4–6 employees in daily field operations
- Aid with large diameter vertical drilling operations for transmission line and heavy civil foundation projects
- Coordinate daily work assignments and maintain production schedules
- Ensure all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific procedures are followed
- Conduct pre-job planning, safety meetings, observations, and assist with incident investigations
- Support equipment setup, mobilization, troubleshooting, and daily maintenance activities
- Oversee drilled shaft and pier construction activities including layout, excavation, casing installation, reinforcing placement, and concrete operations
- Maintain daily reports, crew documentation, production tracking, and time entry
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members in safe and efficient work practices
- Travel Monday through Friday to project sites as required
Qualifications
- 5+ years of heavy civil, foundation drilling, utility, or transmission line construction experience preferred
- 2+ years of supervisory or crew lead experience preferred
- Experience with drilled shafts, caissons, piers, or large diameter vertical drilling operations preferred
- Knowledge of transmission line foundation construction and drilled pier installation practices
- Experience working around large drilling equipment, cranes, excavators, and support equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lead by example
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL or equipment operation experience a plus
- OHS 10 or OHS 30 certification preferred
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Ability and willingness to travel overnight Monday through Friday based on project needs
