Responsibilities
- Meet all production and distribution objectives and deadlines within the established budget.
- Teach, coach, and demonstrate work activities for team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary functions.
- Coordinate, assign, and review work.
- Direct staff on priority of work to be accomplished.
- Ensure all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, disciplinary processes, and other workplace and company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain timely, effective, and professional communications with all internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Perform effective record keeping, filing, and other administrative duties as required.
- Report any accidents or incidents that occur within the designated facility (on- or off-site) by completing and forwarding accident/incident reports to the Operations Manager within 24 hours.
- Monitor working conditions regularly to ensure the safety of all team members; take timely corrective and disciplinary action as necessary.
- Apply problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Kaizen Newsletters) to resolve personnel and quality issues in a timely manner.
- Work directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills (high school diploma or equivalent).
- Basic computer skills.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant manager, sales staff, and warehouse personnel.
- Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience.
- Warehouse experience with forklift, packing, and measuring.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills (even from unrelated business or non-business organizations).
- Safety mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2–3 years of previous supervisory experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of metals handling, including proper staging, processing, packaging, and shipping.
- First aid and CPR training.
- Exposure to labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, lean practices, and sales functions.
