Supervisor, Technical Writing
Location: Idaho Falls, ID (onsite)
About the role
This is a working supervisor role that blends advanced technical writing expertise, administrative, and cross-functional coordination. You will lead, coordinate, and govern documentation while serving as the senior authority for technical documentation standards, ensuring all materials meet Curtiss-Wright’s quality and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor junior Technical Writer(s) and provide input to technical team members assisting in documentation.
- Train and mentor team members to strengthen documentation skills, technical writing capabilities, and adherence to standards.
- Create, develop, plan, write, and edit operational, instructional, maintenance, or test procedures for paper, multimedia, or web-based publication.
- Conduct interviews with users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
- Research and translate technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
- Recommend formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
- Develop, write, edit, and produce operational, instructional, maintenance, and test procedures for paper, multimedia, and web-based publication.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, structured documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document engineering processes, configuration details, specifications, and product behavior as required.
- Ensure all documentation meets Curtiss-Wright standards for accuracy, completeness, formatting, quality, graphics, style, and compliance.
Requirements
- Due to the nature of work performed at this site, incumbents must be a U.S. Person.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in technology, communications, or a relevant technical field desired.
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in the development and editing of Technical/Engineering documentation, preferably related to computer software and hardware-based products.
- 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- High attention to detail and a relentless pursuit of quality.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, documentation management systems (CMS), and structured repositories.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matters.

Pay
$90,000 to $105,000 per year. Criteria such as the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.
