About the role

This position implements the vision of the campus as it relates to admissions and registration and/or academic advising under the leadership of the Associate Dean of Student Services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the supervision of assigned personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution;
  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions;
  • Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance;
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies/procedures related to admissions and registration and/or academic advising;
  • Serves as administrative liaison and coordinates interaction between department operating units, other college departments and programs, and/or external agencies, as appropriate;
  • Works with students and resolves student admissions, registration and academic advising discrepancies;
  • Researches information as necessary to respond to inquiries or address specific applicant/student issues;
  • Oversees records management of both permanent and nonpermanent records;
  • Performs administrative duties in the management of day-to-day operations, (i.e. purchasing, staff scheduling, supervision of staff.);
  • Ensures functionality of office equipment;
  • Serves as a liaison between the various departments in student services in order to improve services across the division;
  • Acts as lead staff in the absence of the Associate Dean.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum Experience/Training: Five years Admissions/Registration experience and/or academic advising experience, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Three years supervisory or lead experience required.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in area of specialization and related areas of the College, and pertinent interdependencies.
  • General understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general.
  • Proven expertise in executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting, cost control and delivery of results.
  • Proven managerial and team building skills, and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve area priorities.
  • Advanced level technical skills for functional area required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of technology used in educational programs and services, including to but not limited to student information system and web-based information systems.
  • Models inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the College's mission in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of talented staff.
  • Strong knowledge of College structure, policies and practices, and the impact on own area.
  • May require negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement and benefit among peers and colleagues.

Pay

$56,160 - $64,584 (Salary commensurate with education and experience)
