About the role
The Sanitation Supervisor will oversee the manual process of the sanitizing of production plants with a focus on food contact surfaces. The supervisor will be responsible for several different production plants and production areas and supervise team leads to ensure completion of areas.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the chemical application in assigned areas and ensure its removal, maintain a variety of routine records, and audit the records in a timely manner
- Maintain daily log sheets documenting completed work
- Audit team lead logs and documents
- Operate forklift for chemical transport and trash disposal
- Manage the chemical and sanitation safety strategy and planning
- Engage in any critical or special situations and promptly discern if additional resources or senior managers are needed
- Provide direct leadership and direction settings to all shifts to ensure that accurate communication and follow-up occurs
- Ensures corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement processes are being utilized in manufacturing and that action plans are verified and effective
- Assist department supervisors with making go/no decisions concerning chemical, cleaning and/or design impacts on production, maintenance, quality and sanitation issues
- Undertake and complete special projects assigned by the Plant Sanitarian as necessary
- Responsible for periodic cleaning program development, training, execution, and tracking
- Provide technical expertise for environmental monitoring program development, monitoring and troubleshooting EMP
- Communicate and escalate any safety, food safety/quality or vendor issues and provide support as needed
- People / skill development through training and coaching
- Track, report, and review the sanitation Performance Indicators on a regular basis to drive continuous improvement
- Manage the cost of sanitation
- Monitor process capability against specifications and drive improvement
- Other assigned duties and/or projects to support business needs
Required skills and abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Must have great communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in English, bilingual preferred
- Must be punctual, have excellent attendance record, and be able to cooperate with others
- Must participate in all training programs
Minimum qualifications
- High School/GED or two to three years of experience in related experience and/or training or combination of both education and experience
- Must obtain or be able to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire date
- Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check
Preferred qualifications
- Three to six months of experience in related experience and/or training
Physical demands
- Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 °Fahrenheit or below)
- Environmental exposure – hot/humid conditions (90 °Fahrenheit or below)
- Material exposure – moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 55lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis
- Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel on a regular basis
Schedule
- 3rd Shift – 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs
- Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well
