Supervisor (RN) - Family Maternity Center

About the role

The Supervisor, Nursing & Patient Care Services for Sentara Leigh Hospital's Family Maternity Center is a full-time 40 hour per week night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Ashore the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas.
• Supervise patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provide high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience.
• Ashors the development and monitoring of the departmental budget.
• Coordinate the purchasing and payroll processes.
• Serve as a technical/clinical resource to team members.
• Perform work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and mentor/assist staff.
• Ashort and assist with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team.
• May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation, and precepting of members of the team.
• Utilize effective communication/interpersonal skills and adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Level Degree – Nursing Certification/Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) License - Compact/Multi-State License OR Registered Nurse (RN) License - Single State - Virginia
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
• 2 years nursing experience
• 1 year nursing leadership experience
• 3 years labor and delivery nursing experience (preferred)
• Previous Charge Nurse experience (preferred)
• Experience with high-risk deliveries (preferred)

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in the state(s) of practice is required.
