Supervisor - Protection Services

Amway · Quincy, WA · 1 mo ago
OTHR$69k–$86k/yrFull-time

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Protection Services Supervisor to protect employees, facilities, assets, information, and business operations across four Washington locations. The supervisor leads the day‑to‑day work of Security Officers while also participating directly in site security activities. At the Quincy site this is a working‑supervisor assignment where one Protection Services employee is typically staffed at a time, so the role alternates between supervisory responsibilities and frontline duties throughout the shift. Because the facilities are unfenced and ungated, the supervisor must maintain strong situational awareness and take a proactive approach to identifying unusual activity, safety concerns, and operational irregularities. The role involves coaching employees, managing performance, supporting training, reviewing incidents, conducting inspections, and coordinating emergency and alarm responses, while building productive relationships with site employees, operational leaders, emergency responders, and law‑enforcement partners.

Typical Day

  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols and site inspections.
  • Monitor an open facility environment for unusual activity or operational concerns.
  • Work at the security desk, answer phones, and respond to employee requests.
  • Manage access needs, including opening secured areas for authorized individuals.
  • Respond to emergencies, alarms, safety concerns, and unexpected events.
  • Document, review, and investigate incidents.
  • Review Security Officer reports and complete supervisory documentation.
  • Coach employees on policies, procedures, performance expectations, and professional development.
  • Manage schedules, daily assignments, goals, and performance activities.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of new Security Officers.
  • Deliver or coordinate training in CPR, First Aid, AED, fire‑extinguisher response, and related topics.
  • Monitor production operations for irregularities, malfunctions, or issues requiring follow‑up.
  • Complete local compliance activities and lead incident investigations.
  • Coordinate with law‑enforcement or emergency‑response agencies when appropriate.
  • Support Protection Services projects, process improvements, and department initiatives.
  • Travel between Quincy, Ephrata, Trout Lake West and East Farms based on operational needs.
  • Provide consultation or response support when significant operational needs arise.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Fire Sciences, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least three years of related experience in security, fire services, law enforcement, or a comparable protection services environment.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or ability to meet the organization’s certification requirements.
  • Experience guiding, coaching, training, or leading employees.
  • Understanding of protection services practices, site emergency planning, and emergency preparedness.
  • Experience interacting with local, state, federal, or other law‑enforcement agencies.
  • Experience responding to incidents, alarms, safety concerns, or emergency situations.
  • Ability to use standard office technology and security‑related systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Washington Concealed Pistol License.
  • Ability to travel between assigned Washington sites.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, walk distances of up to one mile, bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 lb (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Ability to provide consultation or response support based on operational needs.

Skills for Success

  • Proactive observation and situational awareness.
  • Calm and thoughtful decision‑making.
  • Hands‑on, service‑oriented leadership.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Employee coaching and performance management.
  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Emergency preparedness and incident response.
  • Investigation and documentation skills.
  • Sound judgment when working independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Project management and follow‑through.
  • Relationship building and collaboration.
  • Ability to reach consensus across different stakeholder groups.
  • Adaptability in a changing operational environment.
  • Continuous learning and interest in additional training or certifications.
  • Long‑term thinking and process improvement.
  • Discretion when handling sensitive information and incidents.

Team Overview

Protection Services safeguards employees, visitors, facilities, physical assets, intellectual property, and ongoing operations. The Washington team supports four distinct locations: Quincy, Ephrata, West Farms, and East Farms. The supervisor may oversee approximately seven to ten Security Officers, though staffing models differ by site. At Quincy, the supervisor often serves as the sole Protection Services employee on site, remaining directly involved in patrols, desk coverage, access requests, phone response, incident management, and daily site needs. This creates an opportunity to lead with both credibility and firsthand operational knowledge. The team works closely with production employees, site leaders, emergency responders, and law‑enforcement partners to maintain a secure and prepared workplace, while also contributing to training, emergency preparedness, compliance activities, investigations, and continuous‑improvement projects across the broader Protection Services function.

Pay

Salary range: $69,472 – $85,818 per year plus an annual bonus.
