About the role

Supervises the activities of production personnel engaged in all facets of the manufacturing function.

Responsibilities

  • Implements operational strategies in assigned area(s) to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer service, sales, human capital, cost and profitability
  • Accountable for assigned area’s key performance metrics including machine and labor efficiencies and provides guidance to production associates to ensure scorecard objectives are met
  • Supports capacity planning process to meet internal and external customer on-time-delivery demands
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to support continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence
  • Provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the salaried and hourly production team, working closely with direct reports
  • Interacts with key stakeholders to provide technical support and/or resolve order problems or complaints
  • Maintains industry, professional and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications
  • Provides daily coaching and feedback to all department employees
  • Maintains schedules, monitors rush orders, hot list, call-ins, etc.
  • Works with other production and support departments to reach consensus on most effective/efficient method of production
  • Participates in department SQPC boards reporting out any concerns, successes, etc.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements and increased productivity opportunities
  • Enhances internal and external department communication toward creating a cohesive work environment
  • Participates in monthly department meetings and other meetings as needed to communicate policy, revisions, general updates, etc.
  • Provides backup ECATS responsibilities and resolves issues with Payroll when necessary
  • Affords support to the Department Area Manager on the following areas: weekly/daily manning requirements, overtime requirements, quality complaints
  • Acts as a liaison between customer and department
  • Assumes the roles and responsibilities of the Department Manager during scheduled vacations or unforeseen absences, ensuring seamless continuity of operations, effective team leadership, and timely decision-making to maintain departmental performance and service standards
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance activities on all equipment
  • Completes employee disciplinary issues and performance reviews in a timely manner and in line with employee handbook
  • Works with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
  • Actively participates in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to work various shifts as needed
  • Ability to effectively work in teams
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
  • Reads a tape measure/ruler
  • Good communication skills
  • Good mathematical skills

  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Desire and willingness to commit to on-going professional development, including Menasha specific and other training and development opportunities as directed
  • Strong interpersonal skills - you care about people and are passionate about helping others!
  • Microsoft Office skills: Windows, Outlook, SharePoint, SAP, Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Must have good color perception
  • Knowledge of inks and solvent characteristics and effects in different uses
  • Experience And Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required
