About the role

The Production Supervisor provides leadership to team leads and a team of hourly production employees, ensuring the team meets production targets safely, on time, and to established quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to team leaders and front-line hourly production team members; ensure a safe work environment, define expectations, provide resources, coach/teach/train associates, ensure accountability, and provide feedback.
  • Develop, implement, and audit daily standard work.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement; conduct root cause analysis and develop/implement corrective action plans.
  • Maintain production schedule, meeting both quality and productivity requirements.
  • Maintain good inventory control procedures for all raw materials required in the assigned department(s).
  • Partner with supply chain, quality, shipping, and other departments to ensure the team meets production targets safely, on time, and to established quality standards.
  • Ensure timely response to operational issues impacting customer expectations and project cycle time performance.
  • Be knowledgeable of company policies and engage appropriate resources (HR, Safety, etc.) when required to handle issues that arise.
  • Support, communicate, implement, sustain, and consistently enforce all company policies/procedures.
  • Build and sustain good morale and attitudes among all reporting associates.
  • Initiate requisitions for open positions; interview and determine best candidate for position.
  • Document associate skills and knowledge to create a skills matrix of employee training needs and accomplishments.
  • Capture and analyze data regarding productivity; understand through observations the causes for high and low productivity.
  • Understand production requirements and direct resources appropriately to procure shipment items; communicate decisions with data and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping in ADP for all assigned direct reports.
  • Enforce safety rules, practices, and procedures to ensure the safety of associates, buildings, grounds, and machinery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership position (team lead, team captain, supervisor, shift lead, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience with 5S, Lean/Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work extended and/or weekend hours when required.
