Supervisor, Patient Access-Full time-Rotating shift
About the role
Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Supervisor in Patient Access. As a Supervisor in Patient Access at MercyOne, you will be a frontline, department-based role that supervises daily functions of assigned areas. You will provide clear direction and manage or advance people, processes, structures, and/or programs that support direct or indirect care. You will demonstrate behaviors in alignment with the culture and create or support comprehensive strategies and measures progress to achieve desired outcomes. You will be responsible for the daily operations and the oversight of staff. You will work in collaboration with department managers to manage staff and the department effectively. You will participate and contribute to the performance management/review process. You will implement departmental plans and priorities identified by accountable leaders. You may participate and recommend in the hiring and selection process.
Responsibilities
- Responds promptly and directly to meet or exceed customers' needs.
- Maintains and demonstrates knowledge to successfully supervise each functional area of the hospital including, but not limited to all outpatient registration points, emergency room registration, admissions, bed assignment, and financial counseling.
- Monitors the patient tracking system, registration reports, and financial clearance activities to ensure patients are registered within key performance standards.
- Maintains adequate controls over cash collections and ensures payments are properly handled by hospital policy and accurately recorded and promptly forwarded to the Cashiers Office.
- Coordinates investigation and appropriate resolution of problems from patient/family or staff complaints.
- Serves as a point of contact for patient questions regarding payment requirements and charges referred by scheduling and verification team colleagues.
- Supervises assigned team, disseminates policy/procedure updates, and supports coverage of other departmental divisions as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) to three (3) years experience working in a Pre-service or Patient Access operations with supervisory or lead responsibilities.
- Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA & / or NAHAM CHAM within one (1) year of hire.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Associate degree.
- Patient accounting experience.
