Supervisor, Packaging
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Packaging Supervisor to lead and oversee daily packaging operations within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This 1st shift leadership role is responsible for coordinating packaging activities, training and supervising staff, ensuring schedule adherence, and driving operational efficiency—all while maintaining strict compliance with cGMP, SOPs, and FDA requirements.
Responsibilities
- Packaging Operations & Scheduling
- Partner with Manufacturing Supervisors to develop weekly packaging schedules aligned with production requirements.
- Career: Coordinate internal and cross-functional activities to ensure alignment with the micro-schedule.
- Support the Production Manager in monitoring and directing daily packaging activities to meet timeline commitments.
- Review packaging work orders during execution to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
- Perform packaging-related ERP transactions as required.
- Process Improvement & Validation
- Develop and revise packaging work instructions, SOPs, and packaging records.
- Improve packaging efficiency by reducing set-up times, adjusting work methods, and recommending process or equipment enhancements.
- Write, review, and execute packaging PQ protocols and reports.
- Support serialization and aggregation activities, as applicable.
- Quality, Compliance & Investigations
- Investigate and complete packaging-related incidents, including in-house and market complaints, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure adherence to cGMPs, SOPs, FDA guidelines, and safety regulations.
- Provide backup support to the Production Manager during meetings, audits, and inspections.
- People Leadership
- Directly supervise packaging personnel, including setting goals and objectives, preparing performance appraisals, and monitoring work product.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to support performance, compliance, and engagement.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure consistent and compliant packaging operations.
Qualifications
- High School, Trade School, or Vocational Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; B.S. in a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Solid background in line operations, line balance, and packaging execution.
- Knowledge of serialization, aggregation, and packaging validation (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A self-starter with a hands-on, can-do leadership style.
- English language proficiency at CEFR Intermediate B1+ level.
- Minimum 9 years of pharmaceutical packaging experience required.

Pay
The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $86,500 to $96,500. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience.
Schedule
Work Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Environment
This role operates within a manufacturing/production/laboratory environment and may involve:
- Moderate to high noise levels
- Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, and airborne dust
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts and other industrial hazards
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to navigate office, laboratory, warehouse, and plant floor environments.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses/goggles, respirators, and safety shoes.
