About the role

The Supervisor, Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of a team of Advanced Practice Providers in the Adult Cardiology and Electrophysiology department at UPMC's Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI). This role involves setting standards for quality care, managing the team, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients.

Responsibilities

- Apply basic professional practice knowledge and skills. - Communicate effectively and seek performance feedback. - Learn and utilize advanced professional practice techniques. - Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare team members. - Identify and address ethical situations. - Communicate with patients and families to support their care. - Seek professional development opportunities. - Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. - Handle multiple priorities and specialized equipment. - Demonstrate clinical judgment and problem-solving skills. - Maintain clinical practice at least 25% of the time. - Precept students. - Maintain a solid/strong/good or higher rating on annual performance evaluations. - Establish and maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. - Make recommendations for improving clinical care and workplace health.

Qualifications

- At least 5 years of experience as a certified nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or relevant managerial experience, with at least 3 years from APP experience. - 3 years of experience in the department specialty preferred. - Supervise 3 APPs. - Maintain clinical practice at least 25% of the time. - Precept at least 1 student per year. - Achieve a solid/strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluation to maintain status. - Possess good clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. - Have the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders. - Have the ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple priorities, and use specialized equipment.
